SMKN 2 Sumedang School Website Redesign
As part of my work as a UI/UX designer, I took on the project of redesigning the official website for SMKN 2 Sumedang. The school wanted a more modern and user-friendly online presence to represent its values, inform visitors, and engage its community. The goal was to create a platform that provides students, parents, teachers, and the broader school community with a seamless experience, accessible information, and a visually appealing design that reflects the school’s identity.
Core Problem:
The previous website lacked a modern user interface and was challenging to navigate, with key information buried in cluttered layouts. This design was not mobile-responsive, which hindered accessibility on different devices. The lack of clear structure and intuitive navigation made it difficult for users to find relevant information quickly, leading to lower engagement and a suboptimal user experience.
Content:
User-Centric Design:
Created a responsive, mobile-friendly design to ensure accessibility across all devices.
Developed an intuitive navigation structure that allows users to easily find information on school programs, events, and contact details.
Visual Identity & Branding:
Used a color palette and typography that aligns with SMKN 2 Sumedang’s brand identity, reflecting the school’s professionalism and warmth.
Designed custom icons and visual elements that enhance the school’s identity and simplify information access.
Information Architecture:
Organized the website content to prioritize key information, such as announcements, academic programs, and extracurricular activities, making them accessible from the homepage.
Added a dedicated section for events, school news, and student achievements to foster community engagement and showcase school activities.
Enhanced User Experience:
Designed clear call-to-action buttons and an interactive contact page to improve user engagement.
Implemented a feedback mechanism, allowing users to provide insights for continuous improvement.
Business Outcome:
The redesign significantly improved the accessibility and usability of the SMKN 2 Sumedang website. It increased user engagement, with a higher volume of visits from students, parents, and prospective students. The modern interface and improved navigation reduced bounce rates and increased page views, helping the school communicate more effectively with its community and enhancing its online presence. The new website also supports the school’s goal of attracting new students and building a positive, professional reputation within the educational sector.
